Public Communication:
B. Sund looked at the drainfield after the diverter valve was raised as recommended by the manufacturer; the same laterals were failing after the valve was raised. Darin O. sent an email expressing the same conclusion. B. Sund recommends expanding to a new drainfield which will be created during dry weather leaving all of the natural flora and fauna around the area. He said they would start by digging shallow perk holes now, lay out the runs, clear the area very carefully as to keep the good dirt, being ecologically conscious then sensitively remove stumps only in the lateral areas to keep the vegetation which will help to filter. The current drain field can then be abandoned to rest for a year and used in the future as an alternate. This should all be done now before fall. B. Sund will act as the Engineer and contract the work. He would like to recommend the perk holes be dug before the next port meeting. Commissioner Brazil made a motion to approve the perk holes being dug before the next port meeting, Commissioner Petz seconded, and it was unanimously approved.

Commissioner Reports:
Commissioner Brazil spoke to Captain Lee Geist who had his boat ‘the Twanoh’ at the Port of Hoodsport’s dock. Commissioner Brazil walked down to the dock with Lee who showed him broken cleats and a bull rail that needed to be refastened. S. Lindgren said they would re fasten the boards; they will need to use small screws because there is nothing substantial under the deck to fasten larger bolts to. S. Lindgren was tasked by the Commissioner Brazil to schedule time to make regularly scheduled maintenance checks on the dock to replace cleats, bolts and pressure washing the dock as needed. K. Wyatt will check with the contractor to see if the cleats that were ordered have come in.

Port Maintenance Reports:
Hoodsport Trail Park: B. Osborne is coordinating with the disc golf association on mutual directional signs trail signs to be placed at trail intersections at the trail park.

Hoodsport Marina, Dock & Waterfront Park: The waterfront park looks terrific, the flowers are beautiful and the grass is plush.

Public Restrooms: Currently open to the public intermittently as directed by the septic system specialists and the County. New surveillance cameras are being installed to cover the port restrooms, parking and waterfront areas.

Port parking/maintenance shed: Household trash is regularly being left in all of the trash receptacles at the port restroom, waterfront park area and by the Port dumpster.

Port Operations Manager Report:
K. Wyatt provided a new schedule of payment received from the County Auditor. The County hired another person to help with warrant checks and the County is now able to cut Voucher checks weekly instead of twice per month which will help tremendously to make sure payments are made in a timely manner. Commissioner Petz asked K. Wyatt to reduce the number to Port o Pots in the fall after Labor Day weekend to by removing two regular port o pots at the public restroom and one at the trail park.
