HOODSPORT TRAIL PARK GRAND REOPENING 5-27-2023 AND VOLUNTEER WORK PARTY 5-13-2023

Port of Hoodsport Letterhead

The Port of Hoodsport’s commission is pleased to announce the reopening schedule for the 80-acre Hoodsport Trail Park. The year-long project to remove diseased, dying, and fallen hazard trees will be completed by the end of May 2023, with a Grand Re-Opening scheduled for Saturday May 27th at 10 am. To prepare for the re-opening, a volunteer work party is scheduled for Saturday, May 13th, from 10 am – 2 pm. Volunteers will groom soft surface hiking trails, distribute bark, and provide general trail maintenance. Volunteers must be at least 18 yrs. old and will need to register and sign a liability waiver to participate. Registration forms can be found on the Port’s website s at www.portofhoodsport.us  Go to the ‘what’s happening’ tab, then to the ‘community events’ tab scroll down to the printable pdf files

As part of the reforestation project, 3000 Cedar trees (impervious to laminated root rot also known as Poria weirii disease), were purchased and replanted within the park to restore the forest and wildlife habitat; and to protect soil and water resources. With continued support and investment, our trail park has the potential to make a lasting impact on the health of the environment and economy of our community.

Along with the re-opening of the Hoodsport Trail Park, the Port is also pleased to re-open the Hoodsport Hills Disc Golf Course situated on 20 acres on the South side of State Rt 119, adjacent to the Lake Cushman Golf Course. The course is in a beautiful, forested setting emphasizing its natural aesthetics, a wonderful environment for professional and amateur disc golfers. Disc golf clinics and tournaments at the 9-hole disc golf course events can be scheduled by submitting an event application to the Port of Hoodsport.  Facility event applications can be found on the Port’s website at www.portofhoodsport.us  Go to the ‘about us’ tab, then to the ‘facility use events’ tab
