Approval of Agenda:
Commissioner O’Laughlin made a motion to approve the 09-10-14 meeting agenda. Commissioner Petz seconded, unanimously approved.
Minutes:
Commissioner O’Laughlin made a motion to approve the minutes of August 27, 2014. Commissioner Petz seconded, unanimously approved.
Vouchers:
Commission O’Laughlin made a motion to approve the Voucher of September 2014 1of1 $6,405.36 Commissioner Petz seconded, unanimously approved.
Public Communication:
Morgan Rothrock described the logistics of how a Disc Golf course is designed and played. He shared how the Disc Golf Course in Shelton leases the County property with a zero budget, a $1.00 per year lease and a promise that the club has volunteers that maintain the property.
Roger from Knight Fire Protetion discussed finding out from local Authorities what the standard code is for requirements on the type of material used for fire line piping under the dock at the Port of Hoodsport Marina.
Commissioner Reports:
Commissioners Brazil discovered some of the trees planted at the Hoodsport Trail Park in the reforestation project are growing too close to the hiking trails and suggested they be re planted in the spring.
The Port is on a fact finding mission only for possible Recreational activities geared for economic development to bring tourism, local jobs, recreation local revenue to Hoodsport. When it is determined by the Port and the Public that these types of activities are feasible, the Port will solicit bids from all Vendors to get the best RFP with guidelines acceptable to the Port.
Commissioner Brazil & Commissioner Petz discussed updating the Comprehensive & Master Plan to include enhanced recreational opportunities. An open meeting will be held when the Commission is ready to adopt an amendment to the comprehensive and master plans.

Ongoing discussion and fact finding, exploration and research continue regarding Canopy Tours, Disc Golf, Trail Extension & additional public parking in town. Coordinating a time when the Commissioners can walk the corners of the Hoodsport Trail Park. Research and consultation is ongoing to determine steps on acquiring a walking trail extension through DNR property from the Hoodsport Trail Park into Hoodsport. It was determined the additional public parking spaces adjacent to Port of Hoodsport property was not feasible at this time and the Commission moved to decline further investigation on this particular property. The LTAC application is being reviewed and the completed. The Port of Hoodsport’s insurance binder & property schedule was reviewed. Discussed the Pro Build building proposal to the Port of Hoodsport by the owners to purchase, it was determined the Port of Hoodsport’s primary focus is in public recreational activities and is currently not interested in purchasing a commercial building. Discussed the possibilities of a property for sale adjacent to the Hoodsport Trail Park property to determine whether it could provide additional parking and water for the Hoodsport Trail Park.

An interest in Canopy Tours will be investigated further to determine the feasibility of this sport in this area. Disc Golf will also be examined as it has become a popular sport. Both of these sports could bring tourism and local jobs to the Hoodsport area. Extending the hiking trail from Hoodsport Trail Park to the Foothills Park is being explored. The Port is working on an Amendment of the Comprehensive Plan.
