Port of Hoodsport Temporary Dock Closure

Port of Hoodsport Letterhead

For Immediate Release
Port of Hoodsport to Issue Emergency Closure of the Public Pier in Hoodsport
Hoodsport, WA – September 21, 2023 – The Port of Hoodsport located at 24113 N.
US Hwy 101, is announcing a temporary closure of the public pier and dock located on
US Highway 101 in downtown Hoodsport. The Port has been awaiting the results of a
new site inspection report before beginning the bid process for needed repairs. After a
recent site visit by an engineer and contractor, safety concerns were brought to the
attention of the Port of Hoodsport (POH) commission and a recommendation was made
to close the dock until certain repairs could be made. After consulting with the Port’s
attorney, the difficult and unfortunate decision was made to temporarily close the dock
to protect the health and safety of the public.
When the site inspection report and engineer’s letter are received, the POH will begin
the bid process for needed repairs. At that point, the commission is looking forward to
quick completion due to the emergency nature of the repairs. To follow the progress, the
public is invited to attend the monthly Port of Hoodsport hybrid meetings which are
announced on the Ports website and posted on the door of the Port office. The next
scheduled meeting is on October 25, 2023, at 9 am. Details for a Zoom invite can be
found on the Port of Hoodsport website.
