MINUTES FROM THE REGULAR MEETING

OF THE PORT OF HOODSPORT COMMISSION

January 31, 2012

 

Call to Order:   9:00am                                                      Adjourned: 10:50am

Approval of Agenda:  Comissioner Petz made a motion to approve the 1-31-12 meeting agenda. Commissioner Brazil approved.

 

Minutes: Commissioner Petz made a motion to approve the minutes of December 20, 2011. Commissioner Brazil approved.

 

Vouchers: Commissioner Petz made a motion to approve the Vouchers January (1of1 & 2of2), Payroll Voucher & January Rent. Commissioner Brazil approved.

 

Public Communication: 

Jim Goodpaster, with Mt. Washington Excavation stated the slash piles have been moved to the North side of State Rt. 119 and was starting to burn them as long as weather/wind permits.

Forest McCullough, NW Land & Tree is still waiting for the Access permit from Green Crow and will start next week providing they have the permit. A back line abatement of all brush 100’ from the road & 200’ from structures will be done.  Ben Carlson has a list of seedlings to be planted next fall.

 

Commissioner Reports:  

Commissioner Petz attended a pre application meeting with Grant from Foster & Williams at Mason County to speak to representatives from environmental health, building inspector & the Planner. They reviewed requirements to move forward with the Public restroom project.

Commissioner Brazil spoke about the Polar Bear Plunge event, the dock will be cleaned prior to the event and the restrooms will be pumped prior to and after the event, parking has been arranged with West Realty & IGA.

 

 

Port Maintenance Reports:

Regular maintenance to Public restrooms & Marina.

 

Port Operations Manager Report:

The ‘All Ports’ meeting was cancelled due to weather and will be rescheduled for April or May.

Arrangements have been made to accommodate the Polar Bear Plunge event.  The derelict boat owner is trying to sell the boat which is moored in Union.  A newsletter to update the public of projects underway will be posted to the Port website.  An application was submitted for grant monies to replace or repair the Sani Sailor pump out station at the Port Marina.

Budget:    Review of Expenditures/Revenue

 

Old Business:

  1. Discussion/Direction Regarding the Septic Design, Temporary & Permanent Restroom Projects: 

Septic Design:  Commissioner Petz & the architect are moving forward as per the pre conference meeting with Mason County.

Permanent Restrooms:  CXT Montrose is the consideration.

Temporary Restrooms:  Up & running & being monitored.

Still working on a permanent solution to the Public restrooms.

 

Commissioner Petz attended a pre application conference with the County building departments to go over all issues to tie together the septic system and permanent restroom.  The Septic system is a priority and a final scenario in order to install the permanent restrooms by the Summer of 2012.

 

New Business:

 

Next Meetings:  Next meeting date is Tuesday February 14th at 9am.

 

2012 Tuesday Meetings are scheduled as follows:

March 13th @ 9am, April 10th & 24th @ 9am,      May 8th & 22nd @ 9am.

 

Entered in to Executive Session at 10:35am

Executive Session:    Executive session was held to discuss a contract issue. In general session, a motion was made and approved to present a settlement to the issue.

Motion to Close Executive Session at 10:45am

 

Adjourn: Commissioner Petz made a motion to close the Regular Port meeting & adjourn. Commissioner Brazil seconded, meeting adjourned at 11:50 am
